Book Garden Launch

The Toronto Book Garden will be unveiled Sunday, September 24 at 10 a.m. in front of Queen’s Quay Terminal (207 Queens Quay West). The event precedes the kick-off of Word on the Street and will be attended by politicians and a range of former Toronto Book Award winners.

The garden features paving stones engraved with the names of every winning author and title since the Toronto Book Awards were founded in 1974. Former City Councillor Ceta Ramkhalawansingh (Ward 20) conceived of the book garden and got the funding ball rolling in 2014 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Toronto Book Awards. Former City Councillor and Mayor John Sewell originally proposed the Toronto Book Awards in 1973.
